You cannot make believe yourself into awakening. You cannot will yourself nor image yourself into awakening. For the self that awakens is a figment of your dreams.
The true Self neither awakens nor sleeps.
It is neither discovered nor lost.
It is eternal shining light of Being/Awareness, invisible eternal reality, effortlessly shining as everyone and everything.
Looking deeply into the imagined character you take yourself to be reveals the mirage and restores the correct discrimination and the causeless peace of Being.
