About thought and the absence of thought

Is thought disturbing?
Thought causes no real disturbance. Nothing disturbs the Self. Rather (the impression of) disturbance is is the result of the belief that I, consciousness, am limited, personal and mortal. Such a belief leads to unhappiness and arises in the body mind as a nagging sensation of unhappiness and yearning for happiness.
Hearing and seeing do stop in deep sleep and yet, the absence of images on the screen do not establish the absence of the screen. After all, the absence or presence of thoughts/images do not define YOU, the undefinable, as YOU are the definer of all that is defined.
No need to struggle with thoughts. Simply abandon the false identification. That becomes effortless as you examine it closely.
