A conversation with a friend: Live your understanding.

Questioner:
Hi Magdi, thank you very much for your talk. What resonated the most was what you said that once you realize that you are not the body-mind, you said to live up to that discovery… How to do that? I have a belief that that would only be possible if I pretend… which does not sounds very honest or authentic.
Reply:
Well, you pretended to be a woman, a separate person for all these years.

It is important to live your understanding. What is the use of realizing that your experience is non-dual while you continue to live out of the old model of duality?
Notice that these words appear to you, you as borderless awareness. This morning, when you had breakfast, the cereal and toast appeared to you, the same you that perceives the screen, this very moment.
Sensations are releasing or getting ready to release…. Allow them without interference, without adding a me-story.
Questioner:
OK
Reply:
Remain as the wide open sky of consciousness… Notice that you are the open sky, the infinite presence, the eternal awareness….
Everything appears to you….
YOU…. awareness, aware presence… perceive all perceptions, perceive the screen this very moment… You … awareness… are not a form… Is that not so?
Questioner:
Yes. It is my experience.
Reply:
That is divine re-cognition that you honor by living according to the revelation that is gifted to you. God remembering her true infinite and eternal nature… borderless… edgeless… infinite… all loving… pure…
Creative, beautiful, peaceful, infinite presence…
Not a limited me or a you.
Questioner:
Yes. I experience ‘I’ perceiving all that comes moment to moment. I perceive ‘I’ as all that comes.
Reply:
Yes, while the perceiver does not come and go, the images on the screen change. The screen does. The true ‘I’ is unmoved. The ‘I’ that is awareness…. is unmoved.
Right now, YOU, awareness take on the form of this perception but you remain awareness, untouched and unstained by the images you conceive and perceive.
Questioner:
Awareness is aware of very heavy problems in my family, sad. Awareness is untouched but this form body-mind is hurting… how can this form be happy?
Is it by cherishing the re-cognition that ‘I’ is not that hurting form? And then dance because of that knowing? Dance, celebrate, love and fall in love with that knowing?
Reply:
Happiness does not belong to the form. As long as you seek happiness for a form, you remain in ignorance and separation. You remain in the dream seeking happiness for the imaginary dream character.
The recognition that ‘I’ is not the form is an important recognition. If you live according to this recognition and stick by it without contracting or attachment, it will liberate you.
Questioner:
OK, I got it. It does not matter what form is going through, awareness is always peaceful, loving endless.
Reply:
Yes. The seeming reality of form is the reality of consciousness. Form does not have an independent reality. Form is not what is alive. Only consciousness is real. In time, your focus will no longer be on the passing images, on the dream appearances,
Questioner:
Yes!!!!!!
The samskaras have to be lived by this form… so be it. Those appearences are to be that and only that.
Reply:
Feelings and sensations release out of the feeling states. They arise to dissolve, like clouds. Allow them to release without interfering and recognize them as guests that are now on their way out.
Questioner:
They will be disappearing in the wide open sky of consciousness…
Reply:
Absolutely. They arise from the source and return to it.
Questioner:
You mean feelings… same can be said of thoughts, sensations.
Reply:
Absolutely. All phenomenal events arise from the source and return to it. Their very substance is the source.
Questioner:
They come from awareness and go back to awareness. And I am aware of that awareness.
Reply:
Yes. Awareness aware of itself. Awareness is our true nature. What I truly am. Awareness aware of its infinity and eternity. Borderless.
Questioner:
Yes! Now phenomena lost its meaning in a meaningful knowing.
Reply:
There is only one meaning. The meaningful knowing of the reality of consciousness, the only reality. This realization is the experience of peace, freedom and happiness. That is the stabilization of the realization as causeless peace and happiness.

Questioner:
What I meant was that there was an instant in which all labels disappeared and there was freedom and peace. Phenomena lost its meaning.

Reply:
When the light shines in a dark room, initially it blinds you and the world disappears. When you get used to the light, the forms, the world reappears with clarity.
The initial loss of phenomenal meaning is natural result of the revelation of the reality of consciousness. What follows is phenomena regaining a sweet, happy and joyful meaning. Full of awe and wonder.
Questioner:
mmmmm
Reply:
First, in ignorance, I, consciousness, am a phenomenal event, a mortal body mind.
Next, in the glimpse, I am consciousness and all phenomenal events are not real and disappear.
Finally, I am consciousness as everyone and everything. The world, body and mind appear as myself, non dual.
Neti neti is the interim stage.
First I am the mortal body mind and the world is external to me.
Next, I am consciousness and I am not the body, mind or world.
Finally, I am infinite universal consciousness manifesting as the world, body and mind…. as one.
Questioner:
Hmmmmm. I see… There is something hanging in the mind, and I want to let it go. You say: “What follows is phenomena regaining a sweet, happy and joyful meaning”…would this mean that compassion appears to give phenomena its real meaning and so acknowledges its lack of substance? Consequently regaining a sweet happy and joyful meaning? Is compassion coming from the form?
Reply:
Once the sense of separation has been removed from the mind via understanding and from the body via releasing, the dream becomes sweet.
The initial separate phenomenal world is first perceived external to me. Then it is seen to be unreal and non existent and finally it appears as a celebratory creative and happy play.
Compassion is a quality of consciousness and not of the form. Com-Passion is passion for everything. Passion for wholeness.
It is not a quality of the mind. It is a quality of consciousness…. that is void of a compassionate person image.
No person.
Not personal.
Not an activity.
Like the perfume of a rose is not an activity of the rose. It is a quality of the rose.
Questioner:
Hmmmmm
Yes, so compassion involves an understanding and acceptance of what is… as it is and as part of leela… is that what it is meant by leela?
Reply:
Leela is the dream. It does not mean ignorance. It does not mean separation or belief in duality. Com-passion is acceptance of what is without separation. Non-dual acceptance. Consciousness accepting itself, recognizing itself. Then compassion is effortless. It is noticed as the perfume of wisdom otherwise, in ignorance, it is in the shadow of the me impression.
Questioner:
Thank you so much
